Obama for the win

There's a reason why President Obama won the hearts of students around the country, in today's NYT lies a clear example.

If Sallie Mae thinks the insane amount of loans students have to take out for school would go unnoticed, they have another thing coming. The private student lending industry is finding the pill (President Obama wanting to change loans into scholarships for broke college students) hard to swallow.

According to the article, replacing loans would save the government $94 billion over the next 10 years which would be used for Pell Grants.

On the flip side, lenders want to remind people of all the jobs they provide, especially the 2,000 jobs that were initially sent overseas.

And others view President Obama's proposal as too idealistic. “A government-run, one-size-fits-all program is not the answer,” Representative of California, Howard P. McKeon said.
